In Nevinnomyssk, Stavropol Krai, in March 2024, criminal charges were brought against three young men — Islam Terloyev, Alikhan Maashayev, and Abdul Avtorkhanov — for "desecration of symbols of Russia's military glory committed by a group of persons." 2. According to the investigation, on March 1, four guys were engaged in "acrobatic tricks" near the "Eternal Glory" obelisk to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Soviet Power. Islam and Alihan allegedly repeatedly brought the sole of a shoe worn on their feet to the "Eternal Flame" burning on the territory of the monument, while another man filmed their actions on his phone. On March 18, 2024, the Investigative Department for Nevinnomyssk of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Stavropol Territory reported the arrest of Avtokhanov. Terloeva and Maashayeva were first put on the wanted list, but then they were also detained and placed in a pre-trial detention center. After some time, the measure of restraint was softened and the men were sent under house arrest. On October 23, 2024, the Stavropol Regional Court found the defendants guilty and sentenced Islam Terloev, Alikhan Maashayev, and Abdul Autorkhanov to one year in a penal colony-settlement. The court also deprived them of the right to hold positions in the civil service related to the exercise of the functions of a representative of authority, organizational and administrative and economic powers, for two years. The Stavropol residents were taken into custody in the courtroom. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
