Case Description
On January 11, 2024, a search was conducted at the home of local resident Irina Skorovatova in Taganrog, Rostov region. A case was opened against her for repeated "discrediting of the Russian army. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a video published on the woman's page on 'Odnoklassniki'. It tells about how the residents of one of the Russian villages drove out a Russian soldier from there. On January 12, the Taganrog City Court placed Skorovarova under house arrest. On March 6, the court changed Irina's measure of restraint to a ban on certain actions: Skorova was prohibited from leaving the house from eight in the evening until eight in the morning, using the Internet and mail, and communicating with participants in the case, except for the defense lawyer." "Earlier, on February 16, 2023, Skorovarova was fined under the article on discrediting the army due to posts in 'Odnoklassniki'." 5. On March 19, 2024, Judge Alexey Vasyutchenko of the Taganrog City Court found Irina Skorovarova guilty and sentenced her to two years and six months conditionally. On May 28, 2024, the Rostov Regional Court left the verdict unchanged.
