Case Description
On September 14, 2022, in Nizhny Novgorod, a criminal case was opened against 61-year-old Irina Sedelnikova, a teacher at the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Management. She was accused of spreading knowingly false information about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation using her official position. According to the investigation, at the seminar on September 14, 2022, Sedelnikova made anti-war statements. The reason for the case was her words: 'According to official data, how many children have already died, and how many children are left disabled!' What was done there is terrible! On November 7, 2023, Judge Alevtina Usinkina of the Sovetsky District Court of Nizhny Novgorod found Irina Sedelnikova guilty and sentenced her to 3 years of imprisonment with a probationary period of 2 years." Additional punishment in the form of a ban on engaging in educational activities for 2 years was also imposed on her.
