Case Description
In late October 2024, a 56-year-old masseur, Iosif Gelistanov, was detained in St. Petersburg. A man was written to by a person who claimed to live near him and asked for a massage session in the near future. When Gelastanov left his house with a massage table, security forces detained him. A criminal case was initiated against Gelistanov for repeated discreditation of the Russian army. After his arrest, he was escorted to the village of Efremkino in the Shirinsky district of Khakassia. The reason for the criminal prosecution was anti-war posts on VKontakte. It is not known exactly what the man wrote, according to the investigation. As a preventive measure, Gelistanov was placed under a written undertaking not to leave: during the investigation, he was prohibited from leaving the village of Efremkino in the Shirinsky District of Khakassia. Earlier, Gel'yanstov was fined under an administrative article on discrediting. On December 24, 2024, the Shirinsky District Court of the Republic of Khakassia found Iosif Gelastanov guilty and fined him 110 thousand. rubles.
