Case Description
In the city of Shelekhov, Irkutsk Oblast, no later than February 2024, a criminal case was opened against 34-year-old local resident Innokenty Sokolov for public calls to carry out activities directed against state security using internet networks. According to the investigation, Sokolov, being at home, allegedly placed electronic banners in support of Ukraine on the websites he administered and his software products on the internet. The banners redirected users to an electronic page containing calls for material assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and boycotting Russian businesses. The defendant in the case was released on his own recognizance not to leave during the investigation. On October 14, 2024, the Shelekhovsky City Court of the Irkutsk Region found Innokenty Sokolov guilty and sentenced him to 3 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony. The man was taken into custody in the courtroom. On March 10, 2025, the Irkutsk Regional Court left the sentence unchanged.
