Case Description
In Horlivka, an occupied part of the Donetsk region, early in the morning of January 9, 2025, unknown individuals abducted 42-year-old local resident, Ukrainian citizen with forced Russian citizenship, Ilya Mezhankov, on his way to work. His relatives declared him missing. Only almost a week later, on January 15, 2025, it became known that the man had been arrested on a criminal case - he was accused of treason, illegal circulation of explosives, assisting terrorist activities, undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities and participating in a terrorist community. The details of the charges are unknown. The man was placed in a pre-trial detention center.
