Case Description
In Sochi, a criminal case was opened against military serviceman Ilya Masalov no later than January 2023. He was accused of refusing to participate in combat operations, committed during the period of mobilization. According to the investigation, on January 19, 2023, during the formation of personnel, Masalov refused to carry out the commander's combat order to depart for the performance of special tasks during the special military operation. At the time of the investigation, the defendants in the case were placed under a written undertaking not to leave and to behave properly. On May 16, 2023, the Sochi Garrison Military Court found Ilya Masalov guilty and sentenced him to 2 years and 6 months in a penal colony-settlement." The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
