Case Description
1. In the city of Sarov, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, a criminal case was initiated for repeated "discrediting of the army" resulting in damage to property, and participation in the activities of an extremist organization against 26-year-old supporter of Alexei Navalny and anti-war activist Ilya Ilyunin. The date of the case initiation is unknown. According to the investigation, from September 2023 to March 2024, Ilyunin repeatedly damaged a banner calling for enlistment in the "special operation" on a building on Muzrukov Street. The amount of material damage amounted to 90 thousand rubles. In addition, he allegedly distributed extremist materials on social networks and in the form of leaflets at one of the shopping centers in the city. During the investigation, the man was placed under house arrest. On December 23, 2024, the Sarov City Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast found Ilya Ilyunin guilty and sentenced him to 4.5 years of imprisonment conditionally with a ban on leaving the territory of the closed administrative-territorial formation of Sarov. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
