After that, the investigation repeatedly toughened the charges against Baburin: on December 18, 2022, Ilya was additionally charged with "participation in an illegal armed formation" and "participation in the activities of a terrorist organization." "According to the security forces' version, the young man was a participant in the 'Ukrainian militarized nationalist association "Azov. '", On March 31, 2023, an article on attempted "state treason" was added to the charges. Meanwhile, no new episodes in Baburin's case appeared, and the investigator called the organization of the arson of the military enlistment office and participation in the 'Azov' battalion treason. A few months later, on September 28, an FSB investigator brought charges against the young man under articles on the "illegal circulation of special technical means intended for covert information gathering" due to an allegedly found GPS beacon during a search, and "terrorism" - in connection with the arson of a music school, to which Baburin was also allegedly involved. On May 20, 2024, the 2nd Eastern Military District Court found Ilya Baburin guilty and sentenced him to 25 years in prison. Baburin will spend the first five years of his sentence in prison, the remaining years in a strict regime colony.
