Case Description
In July 2023, two 16-year-old local residents, Ivan Kharlamov and Ilya Abroskin, were detained in the Kaluga Region. They were charged with treason and committing a terrorist act as part of a group.
According to investigators, the teenagers corresponded with a representative of the Ukrainian intelligence services and received instructions from him to set fire to an MTS cell phone base station in exchange for a monetary reward. On July 22, 2023, they carried out the arson but did not receive any money.
The teenagers were placed in pretrial detention during the investigation.
On November 7, 2024, the 2nd Western District Military Court found the defendants guilty and sentenced Ivan Kharlamov to 8 years, and Ilya Abroskin to 7 years of imprisonment, to be served in a juvenile correctional facility.
On February 12, 2025, the Military Court of Appeals amended the sentence; the details of the charges are unknown.
