Gareev Ilfat Akhmetgareevich

On April 4, 2023, law enforcement officers in Tatarstan detained a local resident, Ilnfat Gareev, allegedly due to an 'anonymous report' claiming that the man was transferring money to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the police station, he was forced to show the security forces the contents of his phone, but was later released. In September, Gareev was searched in a criminal case of justifying terrorism and anti-state activities. The man was prosecuted under the article on justification of terrorism due to a comment about Daria Trepova: 'The girl is conducting a counter-terrorist operation, and they're imprisoning her... In normal countries, they give medals for this, don't they?' under a news report about the murder of war correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky. The accusation of calling for anti-state activities is related to a comment in which a man called on Muslims not to take summonses because "fighting for Russia is like fighting for Satan. As a preventive measure, he was placed under a written undertaking not to leave." Later he was able to leave Russia. The court proceedings were suspended.
