Case Description
1. In Syktyvkar in December 2024, a criminal case was opened against Igor Tyron, a resident of the village of Nivshera in the Kortkeros district, on charges of publicly justifying terrorism. According to the investigation, between November 2022 and July 2023, Tyron allegedly posted publicly accessible comments containing a positive assessment of the ideology and terrorist activities (arson, explosions, and other actions that intimidate the population and create danger) carried out by the Ukrainian paramilitary nationalist organization 'Azov'. The court placed the man in custody. On April 22, 2025, the 1st Western District Military Court found Igor Tyron guilty and sentenced him to 5 years in a general regime penal colony. On June 30, 2025, the Appellate Military Court left the sentence unchanged.
