Case Description
In early April 2024, it became known in Moscow that a criminal case had been opened for "fakes" about the Russian army on the grounds of political hatred and justification of terrorism against anti-war activist and blogger Igor Orzhevsky. The reason for the criminal prosecution was publications about Bucha and the 'Freedom of Russia' legion. At the end of April, a case was opened against Orzhevsky for inciting hatred and enmity and rehabilitating Nazism due to posts criticizing Putin and a photo of a billboard depicting the President of Russia with Adolf Hitler's mustache. The billboard has the inscription "Get out of Ukraine!. On April 30, all cases against Orzhevsky were combined into one proceeding. Igor Orzhevsky and his mother Svetlana publish information about the war against Ukraine on the website, social networks, and Telegram channel, including news and ways to help Ukraine. VKontakte twice restricted access to the Orzhevsky groups at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office, and in February blocked the personal pages of both activists without the right to restore them. The Ministry of Internal Affairs put Orzhevsky on the wanted list. A pre-investigation check is being carried out against Svetlana Orzhevskaya.
