Case Description
On March 2024, Igor Nuzhdov, a 57-year-old local resident, was detained in Penza. He was accused of treason in the form of espionage. According to the FSB, Nuzhdov repeatedly collected and transmitted information to representatives of the Ukrainian Armed Forces via the Telegram messenger throughout 2023 regarding an enterprise that is part of Russia's defense-industrial complex and fulfills a state defense order." The man was sent to a pre-trial detention center. May 30, 2025, the Penza Regional Court found Igor Nuzhdov guilty and sentenced him to 13 years in a strict regime colony. August 14, 2025, the Fourth Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction changed the verdict, reclassifying the charge, details are unknown.
