Case Description
In April 2024, a 57-year-old parishioner of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Igor Maksimov, was detained in the Omsk region. He was accused of 'rehabilitating Nazism' and 'offending the feelings of believers in places of worship.' 2. According to law enforcement, the priest placed 'icons depicting Ukrainian nationalists - Stepan Bandera, Bogdan Khmelnitsky, and also spread among parishioners the ideas of the exclusivity of one religion over another, the superiority of the Ukrainian people over the Russian people' in his temple. On April 24, 2024, the Kuybyshevsky District Court of Omsk chose house arrest as the measure of restraint for Maksimov.
