Case Description

In November 2022, a criminal case was opened in the Kireevsky district of the Tula region for repeatedly publicly displaying Nazi symbols against a 37-year-old local resident, Igor Kazankov, who had previously been repeatedly convicted. According to the investigation, on November 23, 2022, in the Magnit store and in the parking lot near it, while intoxicated, Kazankov caused a scandal in the store and undressed to the waist, thus demonstrating Nazi symbols tattooed on his body. In addition, he continued to swear in the parking lot, where he stated, in particular: "Glory to Ukraine! Glory to Ukraine! "He also spoke about Vladimir Putin and the Russian Federation and said that he "is a staunch patriot of Ukraine. On November 25, 2022, the defendant in the case was placed in a pre-trial detention center. On March 27, 2023, it became known that two more criminal cases were initiated against Kazantsev - for repeated discrediting of the use of the Armed Forces of Russia and vandalism. The accusation of repeated discreditation is also related to an incident at the Magnit store and in the parking lot. The vandalism charge is related to the fact that Kazankov allegedly broke the windows of two electric trains at the Maloyaroslavets station on July 15, 2022. Earlier, in March 2022, the Dorogomilovsky District Court of Moscow fined Kazantsev in a case of an administrative offense under the article on discrediting the Russian army and arrested him under the article on petty hooliganism for publicly demonstrating Nazi symbols. According to court rulings, Kazankov displayed tattoos with Nazi symbolism in the metro station vestibule, accompanying this with a Nazi salute and "loud public slogans of a thematic nature. On July 7, 2023, the Kireevsky District Court of the Tula Region found Igor Kazankov guilty and sentenced him to three years in a strict regime colony with a two-year ban on administering websites on the Internet. On October 23, 2023, the Tula Regional Court upheld the sentence. November 13, 2023, the First Cassation Court of General Jurisdiction mitigated the sentence, details are unknown.
