Case Description

On August 23, 2022, in Yakutia, a criminal case was opened against 30-year-old leader of the Yakut punk group Crispy Newspaper, Aikhal Ammossov (Igor Ivanov), for repeated discrediting of the Russian army. The reason for the criminal prosecution was the anti-war banner 'Yakutian punk against war,' which the activist tried to hang in the center of Yakutsk. Throughout 2022, Ammosov was brought to administrative cases three times under the article on "discrediting the Russian army": the activist came out with a poster "The groom has arrived" to the funeral services bureau, laid flowers in memory of those who died in Ukraine at the memorial plaque "Hero City of Kiev" and drew graffiti "No to war!" in three languages. Ammosov was released on his own recognizance during the investigation. He was able to leave for Kazakhstan. In spring 2023, Ammosov was included in the register of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring as being involved in a terrorist crime, details of the accusation are unknown. In October, it became known that a case was initiated against him for justifying terrorism. He was put on the wanted list. On October 9, 2023, Amosov was detained in Kazakhstan. In November of the same year, he was granted refugee status documents and placed under an extradition arrest for 12 months." October 8, 2024 Ammosov was released from the pre-trial detention center in Kazakhstan. He was able to leave for Germany on a humanitarian visa.
