Case Description
In annexed Sevastopol, in late January 2023, 44-year-old local resident Igor Bunin was detained. He was accused of treason. According to the Russian investigation, the man established contact with the Security Service of Ukraine to transmit data about the location of military facilities. During covert cooperation, he provided information about the location of military units in Sevastopol via email, photographic materials about the basing sites of warships and submarines of the Black Sea Fleet, and boom barriers in Sevastopol bays for use by the enemy in preparing attacks by unmanned aerial and naval vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On January 30, 2023, the defendant was placed in a remand prison. On February 7, 2024, the Sevastopol City Court found Igor Bunin guilty and sentenced him to 15 years in a strict regime penal colony, a fine of 200 thousand rubles, and subsequent restriction of liberty for 2 years. On October 8, 2024, the Third Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the verdict unchanged.
