Case Description
On April 25, 2025, in Balashikha, Moscow Region, near house 2 on Nesterov Street, 59-year-old Lieutenant General of the Ministry of Defense Yaroslav Moskalik died as a result of a car explosion. The explosion occurred around 10:40, when the military was passing by a parked Volkswagen Golf near the house. The explosion threw the general several meters. On the same day, the Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under the article on murder and illegal circulation of explosives. The next day, on April 26, 2025, Ignat Kuzin, a 42-year-old native of Ukraine, was detained on suspicion of murder. Later, the case of murder was reclassified as committing a terrorist act, and the charge of undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities, participating in a terrorist community, illegal circulation of explosives, and using a forged document was also added. According to the investigation, Kuzin, being an agent of Ukrainian special services, arrived in Russia in September 2023. He rented an apartment in the same entrance as the general, in February 2025 he bought a Volkswagen Golf car and installed a homemade explosive device in it, the components for which he took from a cache. On April 16, 2025, Kuzin parked a car with explosives near the house, and on April 19, he flew to Turkey." 2. On November 27, 2025, the 2nd Western Military Court found Ignat Kuzin guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment with a fine of 2 million. rubles.
