Case Description

On November 29, 2023, a search was conducted in Perm at the home of 33-year-old Grigory Skvortsov, a photographer, roofer, and founder of the Perm ritual-industrial collective Jagath. According to Grigory, security forces beat and insulted him in the presence of a witness and witnesses. Operatives seized all the equipment and forcibly cracked the passwords to it. The next day, Skortsova was escorted to the FSB Directorate in Moscow, where local operatives beat him in tactical gloves to "beat out testimony." Skvortsov was accused of treason. According to law enforcement, the man gave the American journalist books titled 'Soviet "Secret Bunkers": Urban Special Fortification of the 1930s-1960s'." In order to write the book, historian Dmitry Yurkov studied more than 500 declassified Soviet documents. Schematics containing information about the location of special facilities, with the connivance of the FSB and GUSP, have been freely available on the Internet for decades and continue to be there now. The security forces forced Grigory to tell on camera to whom he sent "information, and the operatives themselves "hinted" to Skvortsov the name, because in six months he forgot the journalist's name. On November 29, 2023, the Lefortovo District Court of Moscow, at the request of the investigation, sent Skvortsov to a pre-trial detention center. In 2022, Skvortsov gave an interview to the German publication Sonic Seducer, in which he spoke out against the war in Ukraine. On June 26, 2025, the Perm Krai Court found Grigory Skvortsov guilty and sentenced him to 16 years in a strict regime colony. On September 12, 2025, the Fourth Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the sentence unchanged.
