Case Description
Power-wielding forces with a "premises inspection" descended on the home of 32-year-old local resident and activist Grigory Ponomaryov in Moscow on September 25, 2024. According to the activist, he was beaten and tortured with a stun gun, and was not allowed to see a lawyer for a long time. Ponomaryov was accused of illegal possession of weapons. According to the investigation, from August 2 to 8, 2024, the activist illegally acquired weapons in the Moscow region and kept them in a safe in an apartment in Moscow. Before the measure of restraint was chosen, the man was placed in a temporary detention facility. September 27, 2024, the Butyrsky District Court of Moscow, at the request of the investigation, placed Ponomarev in custody. On April 10, 2025, the Butyrsky District Court of Moscow found Grigory Ponomarev guilty and sentenced him to 2 years and 1 month of imprisonment in a general regime colony.
