On December 9, 2024, the charge of intentional damage to property was reclassified as the commission of sabotage - arson aimed at destroying or damaging a means of communication, an object of life support for the population, in order to undermine the economic security and defense capability of the Russian Federation. December 18, 2024, the criminal case was transferred for investigation to the Investigative Department of the FSB of Russia for the Irkutsk Region. In March 2025, 49-year-old father Grigory Yermakov's father Vasily Yermakov was detained on charges of justifying terrorism. The details of the charges are unknown. The Kirovsky District Court of Irkutsk placed the man in a pre-trial detention center. Later, he was reportedly released under house arrest. On April 4, 2025, charges of committing sabotage were also brought against a second unknown defendant. On the same day, the Irkutsk District Court of the Irkutsk Region chose a measure of restraint for him in the form of detention. In the appellate decision on the order of choosing a preventive measure, the court mentions the arson of a base station of a cellular operator in Podolsk, Moscow region.
