Case Description

In Arkhangelsk in October 2021, a criminal case was opened for the rehabilitation of Nazism against a local 24-year-old resident, Georgy Pesterev. On October 18, 2021, a search was conducted at his place and a laptop was seized. According to the investigation, from May 1 to May 8, 2020, Pesterev, with the aim of rehabilitating Nazism, submitted applications for participation in the online "Immortal Regiment" action with photographs of Adolf Hitler, Karl Dönitz, Alfred Jodl, Wilhelm Keitel, Alfred Rosenberg, and SS officers under fictitious names. The applications were blocked by moderators and did not make it into the broadcast. At the time of the investigation, the defendants in the case were placed under a written undertaking not to leave and to behave properly. On February 24, 2022, the Arkhangelsk Regional Court found Georgy Pesterev guilty and sentenced him to a fine of 250 thousand rubles. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
