Case Description
1. In the occupied Donetsk region, a criminal case was opened regarding the participation in an armed conflict against Georgian citizen Giorgi Baramidze. The date of the case being opened is unknown. According to the Russian investigation, in March 2022, Baramidze arrived in Ukraine through a border crossing point in Poland, joined the ranks of the "Georgian National Legion" of the ground forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces as a mercenary, underwent military training at training bases aimed at acquiring skills in handling combat weapons, learning strategy, tactics, and methods of action necessary for participating in an armed conflict, and was provided with personal firearms, ammunition, uniforms, and special equipment. After that, from October 2025, he participated in combat operations against military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. It is claimed that during his service in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the serviceman received a reward of more than 2,486 thousand rubles. At the request of the investigation, the court in absentia chose a measure of restraint for Baramidze in the form of detention. He was placed on the international wanted list. On July 18, 2025, the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic found Giorgi Baramidze guilty and in absentia sentenced him to 14 years of imprisonment to be served in a strict regime penal colony.
