Case Description
Two local residents were detained in occupied Donetsk: 64-year-old Ukrainian citizen Gennady Zhuzhu with forced Russian citizenship and 62-year-old Ukrainian citizen Valery Siglyak. Valeria was accused of espionage, and Gennady of treason. Details of the charges and the date of detention are unknown. The men were placed in a pre-trial detention center. On April 23, 2024, the Supreme Court of the Donetsk People's Republic found the defendants guilty and sentenced Gennady Zhuzhe to 12 years in prison to be served in a strict regime penal colony with a 1-year restriction of liberty."
