Case Description
In Yaroslavl, no later than October 2024, a criminal case on public justification of terrorism and in calls to carry out terrorist activities was opened against 59-year-old local resident Gennady Sotnikov. In early December 2024, officers of the FSB and Rosgvardiya.
According to the FSB version, Gennady Sotnikov placed publications on the Internet in which he justified terrorism and called for blowing up the Kerch Bridge and the Kursk nuclear power plant.
The court chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention.
On June 16, 2025, Judge Andrei Morozov of the 2nd Western District Military Court found Gennady Sotnikov guilty and sentenced him to 3 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony.
The sentence was not appealed and came into legal force.
