Case Description
In Sudak in annexed Crimea, 24-year-old local resident, citizen of Ukraine Hennadiy Limeshko was detained on August 12, 2017. He was accused of illegal manufacture of an explosive device, as well as illegal acquisition, storage and carrying of explosives, ammunition and explosive devices, by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, motivated by political hatred.
According to the investigation, Gennady Limeshko agreed to participate in the criminal plan of the SBU officer to commit sabotage on the infrastructure of Crimea for a monetary reward. No later than August 10, 2017, Limeshko's accomplice prepared a cache with TNT and a grenade, from which the figure extracted the means of explosion. Limeshko independently made an explosive device and carried it to the communication line support to carry out an explosion, but he was detained by the FSB officers.
Since August 13, 2017, the defendant in the case was placed in custody.
On May 10, 2018, the Sudak City Court of the Republic of Crimea found Gennady Limeshko guilty and sentenced him to 8 years of imprisonment in a penal colony of general regime.
On July 24, 2018, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea left the verdict unchanged.
In February 2025, Limeshko was supposed to be released, but after his release he was immediately escorted to the Center for Temporary Detention of Foreigners and disappeared. Since March 13, the man stopped contacting. It turned out that another criminal case was opened against Limeshko - he was accused of public calls to extremism.
According to the investigation, the Ukrainian posted in his social networks some materials with calls for violence on ethnic grounds. It is not known what kind of publications we are talking about.
July 30, 2025 Kursk district court of Stavropolsky found Gennady Limeshko guilty and sentenced him to 2 years of imprisonment in a strict regime colony. The sentence was not appealed and came into legal force.
