Case Description
In Starobelsk, in the occupied part of the Luhansk region, in May 2025, a 61-year-old local resident, Ukrainian citizen Gennady Dobrovolsky, was detained. He was accused of participating in a terrorist community, as well as the illegal acquisition, storage and carrying of firearms and explosives. According to the Russian investigation, in July 2016, Dobrovolsky voluntarily joined the assault battalion "Aydar", which Russia considers a terrorist organization. It is claimed that until 2023 he participated in hostilities. In May 2025, law enforcement officers found and seized a Kalashnikov machine gun and explosives at his place of residence. The man was placed in a pre-trial detention center.
