Case Description
46-year-old elementary school teacher Galina Smirnova from a secondary school in Cheboksary, Chuvash Republic, was detained. According to the investigation, on the evening of January 28, 2024, Smirnova recorded a video address in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: "I wish prosperity to the Ukrainian nation. Justice will prevail, and the yellow and blue flag will become an eternal banner and symbol of justice, truth, and history. All vatniks and Z-niks should rot in the Ukrainian black soil. She distributed the video message among the parents of her students, as well as on the Internet. After that, the teacher came to her workplace and, using a flammable liquid, set fire to two classrooms. The school security guard noticed this and called the police. The area of the fire was one meter. No one was hurt. Scammers have been luring the teacher for several months. On their instructions, she sold her apartment, took out loans, borrowed money from relatives, and even robbed a jewelry store. A criminal case was opened against Galina Smirnova for committing a terrorist act and robbery - in connection with the open theft of two gold chains from a jewelry salon in Cheboksary. The court, at the request of the investigation, chose detention as a preventive measure for her.
