Case Description

On February 16, 2023, in the village of Kokhani in the occupied Kherson region's Golopristansky district, Russian security forces kidnapped music teacher Galina Mammenko from the Kherson Music College and her husband Dmitry. It is reported that Mammenko's house was destroyed, and their son stopped talking after the ordeal. Galina's husband was placed in a pre-trial detention center on Russian territory. He was accused of espionage and aiding in an attack on the life of a military serviceman. According to Russian security forces, from April 2022 to January 2023, Dmitry, using an internet messenger on his mobile phone, informed another foreign citizen, acting in the interests of the special services of Ukraine, about the movement and deployment of Russian military units." 3. In early January 2023, a plot of land, the coordinates of which were provided by Mamenko, was subjected to artillery fire by the armed forces of Ukraine, resulting in the death of a Russian military serviceman. Kharkov Regional Court found Dmitry Mammenko guilty and sentenced him to 18 years in prison to be served in a strict regime penal colony. No later than February 15, 2024, the verdict came into force. There is no data on appealing the verdict. The fate of Galina Mammenko remains unknown to this day.
