Case Description
1. On November 15, 2023, in St. Petersburg, 75-year-old pensioner Galina Ivanova came to the military enlistment office building on the Fontanka. She brought with her a bag containing a bottle of gasoline. She poured gasoline on a Volkswagen car parked near the military enlistment office and set it on fire. At the time of the arson, she was constantly talking to someone on the phone. The woman was detained. It turned out that the pensioner had been scammed by fraudsters. Galina Naumovna was convinced that she was talking on the phone with an FSB officer. As Ivanova told investigators, the interlocutor asked her for help in detaining a dangerous criminal - a corrupt employee of the local military enlistment office. The pensioner was instructed to set fire to the "villain's" car to lure him out of the building, and pointed to a large van next to the commissariat. After the arson, the "FSB man" told the woman to shout "Glory to Ukraine." Only then did Galina Naumovna realize that she had been deceived. Initially, a criminal case was opened against the woman for intentional destruction of another's property. But later the charge was reclassified as a terrorist act causing significant damage. As a preventive measure, the court chose a ban on certain actions for the woman. On January 28, 2025, the 1st Western District Military Court found Galina Ivanova guilty and sentenced her to 10 years in a general regime penal colony.
