Case Description
In Ussuriysk, Primorsky Krai, a local resident Fyodor Erbes was detained in June 2022. He was accused of spreading "fakes" about the Russian army. According to the investigation, in 2022, Erbes, while in Ussuriysk, sent a video recording to a WhatsApp messenger group with more than 230 participants. The video clip contained photographs of destroyed cities in Donbas, damaged military equipment and deceased servicemen, as well as two dialogues in which it was claimed that the command was holding military personnel at the front against their will and that the Russian army was suffering heavy losses. At the time of the investigation, the defendants in the case were placed under a written undertaking not to leave and to behave properly. On August 2, 2022, the Ussuriysk District Court of the Primorsky Krai found Fyodor Erbes guilty and sentenced him to 6 months of correctional labor with a 5% deduction from his wages for the state. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
