Case Description
Early in June 2024, a criminal case was opened in Kazan against 69-year-old public figure and chairman of the Presidium of the All-Tatar Public Center Farit Zakiev for 'fakes' about the Russian army. It is assumed that the reason for the criminal prosecution was a rally that Zakiev held in the Turkish city of Antalya." Activist spoke on behalf of the WTOC, calling on the US and the EU to expel Russia from the UN, impose additional sanctions, and declared genocide by the Armed Forces of the RF against Ukrainians. Zakiev himself left Russia after the start of the full-scale war. On July 20, 2024, Zakiev was put on the wanted list, and searches were conducted at his address in Kazan.
