Case Description
In late March 2022, two local residents, Anton Zavadsky and Faik Khanzhigazov, were detained in Tula. They were accused of vandalism motivated by political hatred and public calls for extremist activity. According to law enforcement, on the night of March 25-26, 2022, Zavadsky and Khandzhigazov painted anti-war inscriptions in the entrances of four apartment buildings: "Overthrow Putin!" End the war! In addition, they distributed leaflets. Initially, the young men were placed under house arrest, and later - under a ban on certain actions. Following the verdict, the measure of restraint was changed to a written undertaking not to leave. On March 29, 2023, the Privolzhsky District Court of Tula found Anton Zavadsky and Faik Khandzhigazov guilty and sentenced each of them to 2 years of restriction of liberty and a fine of 180 thousand rubles. rubles. As part of the restriction of freedom, they were prohibited from leaving Tula without the permission of the supervisory authority. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
