Case Description
In the city of Pushkino in the Moscow region in June 2024, a criminal case was opened about "fakes" about the Russian army on the grounds of political hatred against 47-year-old local resident Evgenia Samokhina. The reason for the criminal prosecution was posts on Evgenia's VK page. There she talked about the shelling of Ukraine by the Russian army and emotionally reacted to news about injured civilians. On June 12, 2024, the Pushkinsky City Court of the Moscow Region sent the woman to a pre-trial detention center. On April 17, 2025, the Pushkin City Court of the Moscow Region found Evgeniya Samokhina guilty and sentenced her to 6 years in a general regime penal colony. On July 24, 2025, the Moscow Regional Court left the sentence unchanged.
