Case Description
In the Narofominsk district, near the Selatino station in the Moscow region, on April 11, 2023, law enforcement officers detained 21-year-old Muscovite Kirill Gorkov and 36-year-old resident of the Narofominsk district of the Moscow region, Yevgeny Zaichkin. According to law enforcement officers, the young people received a task from an unknown person in the messenger, for which they were promised a monetary reward." It was necessary to set fire to the relay cabinets near the station. Initially, it was reported that criminal cases were opened against the men for attempted intentional destruction of another's property. But in court on April 13, when choosing a measure of restraint, the young men were arrested under the article on hooliganism. On April 17, 2023, the actions of Gorkov and Zaichkin were reclassified as sabotage committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy. At the end of September 2023, the charges were again tightened: the FSB Directorate for Moscow and the Moscow Region opened a criminal case on "organizing a sabotage community or participating in it. Gorkova and Zaitchikina were accused of committing three sabotage acts on the Kiev direction of the Moscow Railway of Russian Railways on April 5, 6 and 11." "According to the security forces, in all three cases, relay cabinets responsible for signaling, centralization and blocking were set on fire. The damage from the actions of the 'diversionists' was estimated at more than a third of a million rubles. Gorkova was also accused of theft causing significant damage and involving a minor in a particularly serious crime. 5 June 2024, the 2nd Western Military Court found the defendants guilty and sentenced Kirill Gorkov to 22 years and 3 months in prison and a fine of 200 thousand. rubles, Evgeny Zaichkin - to 17 years in prison and a fine of 250 thousand. rubles. Gorkov must serve the first five years in prison, the rest of the term in a strict regime colony. Zaichkin must spend the first three years in prison, and the rest of his sentence in a strict regime colony as well. October 30, 2024, the Appellate Military Court left the sentence unchanged.
