Case Description
1. On February 14, 2024, Yevgeny Smagin, a 37-year-old local resident of Samara, was detained. A criminal case was initiated against him for calls for terrorism. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a short three-word comment on VKontakte in 2020. Details of the charges and the measure of restraint are unknown. On October 14, 2024, the Central Military District Court found Yevgeny Smagin guilty and sentenced him to 6 years of imprisonment, of which he must serve 2 years in prison, and the remaining term in a strict regime colony. On January 14, 2025, the Appellate Military Court upheld the verdict.
