Case Description
In the city of Dzhankoy, Republic of Crimea, on July 13, 2023, a criminal case for the rehabilitation of Nazism was opened against 30-year-old local resident Yevgeny Shved. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a post in the Telegram channel "Swedish Garage": "the Second World War was unleashed by the Soviet Union and Germany by a pact on the division of Europe between two imperial beasts - Stalin and Hitler, and the Soviet attack on Finland. Activists of the pro-Kremlin snitch movement, who persecute those speaking out against the war, complained about the content of the post. During the investigation, Evgenia Shved was sent to a pre-trial detention center. On February 27, 2024, the Supreme Court of Crimea found Yevgeny Shved guilty and sentenced him to two and a half years in a general regime colony. On June 4, 2024, the Third Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction left the verdict unchanged. No later than July 2025, another criminal case was opened against Shved - for public calls for terrorism. According to the investigation, on 8 October 2022, on the day of the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge, Shved placed two videos and one photo of the bridge in the Telegram channel he administered, with comments containing signs of justifying this terrorist attack. There is no information about the measure of restraint, since at the time the case was initiated, he was already in custody. 22 December 2025, the 2nd Western Military District Court found Yevgeny Shved guilty and, in combination with the previous verdict of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Crimea, sentenced him to a final punishment of 4 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony with a ban on administering websites on the Internet for 5 years."
