Case Description
In the Krasnodar Territory, no later than November 2022, employees of the regional FSB detained Ukrainian citizen Yevgeny Monastyrev." He was accused of espionage. According to the Russian investigation, the man came to the Lazarevsky district of Sochi, where from January to November 2022 during walks he photographed bridges, power line supports and other objects. He allegedly forwarded the photos he received to Ukrainian intelligence officers. The man was placed in a pre-trial detention center for the duration of the investigation. 12 August 2024, the Krasnodar Regional Court found Evgeny Monastyrev guilty and sentenced him to 11 years in prison to be served in a strict regime colony. On November 16, 2024, the Third Appellate Court of General Jurisdiction changed the verdict, details are unknown.
