Case Description
In Khanty-Mansiysk at the end of February 2024, a criminal case was opened for repeated "discrediting of the army" against 50-year-old market security guard "Lukoshko" Yevgeny Lazutin. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a conversation in the smoking room, during which Lazutin became nervous and began shouting "idiots" and "cannon fodder" in relation to the participants in the war in Ukraine. The investigation went to court with a motion to choose house arrest as a preventive measure for Lazutin, but the Khanty-Mansiysk District Court refused, and for the duration of the investigation, the man was placed under a written undertaking not to leave. Earlier, on December 12, 2023, the Khanty-Mansiysk District Court fined Lazutin in a case of an administrative offense under the article on discrediting the RF army due to a publication on social networks. On April 10, 2025, the Khanty-Mansiysk District Court found Yevgeny Lazutin guilty and sentenced him to one year in a general regime colony and a two-year ban on administering internet resources. The man was taken into custody in the courtroom. 2 June 2025, the Court of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug - Yugra mitigated the sentence, assigning the punishment to be served in a settlement colony.
