Case Description
35-year-old Ukrainian citizen Yevgeny Konin was detained at the Verkhny Lars checkpoint in North Ossetia in April 2024 while attempting to cross the border. A man was accused of espionage. According to the investigation, the Ukrainian "carried out the collection of information about the location of personnel and military equipment of the RF Armed Forces in the zone of the special military operation, and then sent this information to Ukrainian special services via an internet messenger. The court chose a measure of restraint for the defendant in the form of detention. 25 October 2024, the Supreme Court of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania found Yevgeniy Konin guilty and sentenced him to 8 years imprisonment to be served in a strict regime penal colony.
