In the occupied Donetsk region, 37-year-old Ukrainian citizen Yevgeny Karpenko was detained no later than August 23, 2022. On this day, the Ministry of State Security (MGB) of the DNR reported the prevention of a terrorist attack. Karpenko was accused of preparing to commit a terrorist act. According to the MGB of the DNR, in 2021, Ukrainian special services recruited Yevgeny Karpenko when he was working in the Czech Republic. At a training ground near the city of Cesky Krumlov, Czech and Ukrainian instructors trained him in fire training and mine-explosive work. In July 2022, Karpenko was sent to the DNR with the task of planting an explosive device in the building of the administration of the village of Volodarskoye during the referendum on the entry of the republic into Russia. For this, he was allegedly paid 2 thousand. euro. On the way, Karpenko decided to surrender to the authorities. The defendant in the case was placed in the SIZO.
