Case Description
On October 26, 2024, in annexed Crimea, Yevgeny Gudenkov, a 52-year-old resident of the village of Uyutnoye in the Saky district, was detained. He left the house, after which he disappeared. His relatives reported him missing. It later turned out that the man was accused of treason and the illegal acquisition, storage and transportation of explosives. According to the investigation and the court, from January 2023 to October 2024, Gudenkov was recruited by representatives of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to cooperate against the security of Russia. Under the direction of the Ukrainian special services, he collected and transmitted information about the location of Russian air defense positions. In addition, he took more than 1 kg of plastic explosive, an electric detonator, and a radio-controlled device from a cache in Crimea, then transported them to his place of residence, and later hid them in another cache in the city of Inkerman. For the duration of the investigation, the defendant was placed in a pre-trial detention center. 27 January 2026, the Sevastopol City Court found Yevgeny Gudenkov guilty and sentenced him to 17 years in a strict regime penal colony with a 1-year restriction of freedom and a fine of 400 thousand. rubles. The court also confiscated a car, a mobile phone and a laptop for the state revenue.
