Case Description
On August 25, 2022, in Novorossiysk, the FSB detained 28-year-old local resident Yevgeny Chafonov." "He was accused of calling for terrorism. According to law enforcement officials, on the evening of August 24, the man published a video message in his Telegram channel. Drunk Chafonov is swearing obscenely on this video, threatening passers-by and calling on the Armed Forces of Ukraine to strike the city embankment where he is located. The security forces forced Chafonov to record a video with "apologies, and then took him into custody. On April 13, 2023, the Southern Military Court found Yevgeny Chafonov guilty and sentenced him to 2.5 years in a general regime penal colony. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force. On December 11, 2024, the Krasnoyarsk District Court of the Samara Region imposed administrative supervision on Chafonov for 8 years, minus the time that had elapsed after serving his sentence. The court ordered the man to report to the internal affairs authorities at his place of residence twice a month, prohibited him from attending mass events, leaving his place of residence at night, and traveling outside the Krasnodar Territory. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
