Case Description
In Ufa, at the end of November 2023 (the exact date is unknown), a criminal case was opened for 'fakes' about the Russian army on the grounds of political hatred against a 37-year-old local resident, Yevgeny Bukarev. Searches were conducted at his relatives' homes and their phones were confiscated. The details of the charges are unknown. Bukarev himself left the country for the United States in May 2023. January 19, 2024, the Kalininsky District Court of Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan, issued an arrest warrant for Bukareva in absentia. 24 April 2024, Judge Ilgiz Gaisin of the Kalininsky District Court of Ufa found Yevgeny Bukarev guilty and sentenced him in absentia to eight years in a general regime penal colony.
