Case Description
On August 7, 2023, in the city of Stary Krym in annexed Crimea, a search was conducted in the home of spouses Asan and Emine Zekeriyev. After the search, they were taken for questioning at the FSB office in Simferopol. At first, Emine was released as a witness, but in November 2023, it became known that a criminal case had been opened against her under the article on failure to report a crime. According to law enforcement officers, in 2016, the woman communicated on VKontakte with a Ukrainian citizen who was in Syria and did not notify Russian law enforcement agencies about this. Zekeryaeva's interlocutor, in the opinion of the FSB, was part of an armed formation that has goals "contrary to the interests of the Russian Federation. No information was provided about the choice of a preventive measure. On June 26, 2024, the Kirovsky District Court of the Republic of Crimea found Emine Zekerayeva guilty and sentenced her to a fine of 50 thousand." rubles.
