Case Description
In Novosibirsk, at the end of October 2023, a criminal case was opened against local resident Emil Valeeva for disseminating information on the Internet that expressed clear disrespect for society regarding the days of military glory of Russia. According to the investigation, Valeeva, being an administrator of the group "Stewed Fans with Meat" on VKontakte, on May 9, 2022, posted information expressing obvious disrespect for society about the days of military glory of Russia associated with the defense of the Fatherland. According to an examination conducted in the case, the publication contains 'statements that indicate a denial, minimization, and humiliation of the significance of the victory in the Great Patriotic War in the public life of Russia.' During the investigation, Valeeva was under house arrest. On 26 March 2024, the Novosibirsk Regional Court found Emil Valeeva guilty and sentenced her to one year of imprisonment with a probationary period of 1 year and deprivation of the right to administer websites on the Internet for 1 year. The verdict was not appealed and entered into legal force.
