Case Description
On March 27, 2024, 60-year-old Larisa Gaidai was abducted in the town of Yedi-Kuyu (formerly Lenino) in annexed Crimea. The next day, March 28, her 60-year-old cousin Tamara Simonenko (Pavlenko) and 41-year-old Elvira Ablyazova were forcibly disappeared. It later emerged that the women were being held incommunicado without legal status at Pretrial Detention Center No. 2 in Simferopol.
The reasons for their detention and the legal grounds for their arrest are unknown.
On March 5, 2026, the women were transferred to Pretrial Detention Center No. 1 in Crimea. They were officially charged with treason. The details of the charges are unknown.
