Case Description
On January 23, 2015 in Taganrog, Rostov region, employees of the Center "E" came with a search to 30-year-old local resident Elizaveta Tsvetkova. They confiscated her laptop, printer and camera, took "papers that in any way resemble politics" and took her for questioning.
On January 28, the woman was interrogated as a witness, and then she was charged with incitement to hatred towards the social group "police officers".
According to the investigation, Tsvetkova posted on her page in the social network "Vkontakte" a leaflet criticizing law enforcement agencies, which she then printed out about 50 copies and pasted on public transport stops and lampposts in Taganrog on the eve of the celebration of the Day of the Internal Affairs Officer of the Russian Federation.
In September 2015, the court returned the case to the investigation due to numerous violations.
On May 31, 2016, the Taganrog City Court of the Rostov region found Elizaveta Tsvetkova guilty and sentenced her to 1 year of correctional work in a correctional center with deduction of 15% of her salary to the state income. The sentence was not appealed and came into legal force.
