Case Description
On October 25, 2022, in occupied Luhansk, 59-year-old Ukrainian citizen Elena Ishchuk was detained on charges of espionage. According to the version of Russian law enforcement agencies, in October 2022, a Ukrainian woman, 'being an opponent of the conduct of a special military operation', agreed at the request of an acquaintance, who is a representative of the Ukrainian special services, to transmit information about the activities of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on the territory of Lugansk. For this purpose, she collected information about the deployment locations of Russian servicemen and the routes of movement of military equipment. She passed on the information she received using one of the messengers. On April 3, 2025, the Supreme Court of the Lugansk People's Republic found Elena Ischuk guilty and sentenced her to 17 years in prison to be served in a general regime correctional colony. No information about the appeal is available.
